“Only the very weak-minded refuse to be influenced by literature and poetry.”
Are you someone who absolutely loves beautiful lines and verses and the deep meanings hidden in every crook of the alphabets? Are you someone who loves to be moved by few words which come together to mean so much more than just “few”? But you just can’t get into poetry? No worries.
Do you have your Goodreads opened in another tab? * waiting * Awesome! Get your coke, Get your pen. Cause’ it’s time to grow that pile of shame aka THE TBR *muuhhwahhaha*
*(glossary time) tbr: to be read list*
If you are someone who dislikes poetry, because you think they’re boring stanzas to be analyzed and you have to write essays on it, you are wrong. They are not always that mechanical or serious. If you hate that poetry book from the “Dead Poets Society” movie and despise that weird graph, I assure you, we are on the same boat. If you love romantic gorgeous writing, stunning lyrics, and you’re all about the feeling – I have feeling that you might love the books on this list.
Disclaimer: these books are mostly for enjoyment and appreciation of this style of writing. Some of them have received lots of criticisms because of the casual and easy flow, but that’s what we are here for. Many people don’t like a few of the books mentioned in this list because they’re like “instagram poetry.” It could be a no-no for some people. But I think the best way to read a poetry book is to go slow and cherish every moment. Because each book is short, and it’s hardly going to take you a lot of time to finish it. But trust me, too much sweetness makes it sour. You want to read it, digest it, and then let it haunt you. Now, that’s some real deep shit there. Anyways. Onto the list!

I personally adore anything by Dorothy Parker – but hers are usually less romantic and more sarcastic… my taste can be weird sometimes 😆
